The Data Donation Module
First, Nico Pfiffner presented the "Data Donation Module" (DDM), an application that facilitates the collection of data donations for academic research. DDM will be part of the Data Donation Lab infrastructure and will be available to researchers at the University of Zurich in early 2023. You can find out more about the Data Donation Module here.
Digital Meal: Data Donation in Education Settings
Next, Lukas Tribelhorn introduced "Digital Meal", a citizen science project that integrates the idea of data donation as an educational tool to foster media literacy among adolescents. Find out more about the project here.
Recruiting Data Donors: Practical Experiences
Finally, Michael Reiss presented insights on strategies for recruiting participants for data donation studies. He compared recruiting participants via a panel provider, via Facebook Ads and via a commercial data marketplace with regard to participation rates, recruitment costs, administrative burden, and control over the process:
