A Look Back at the Data Donation Symposium
We are looking back on a successful symposium with a lot of inspiring presentations and fruitful exchanges.
It took place in a hybrid format and 59 participants from various scientific disciplines (e.g., Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Business Administration) coming from 12 countries registered for the symposium.
The symposium started with a keynote by Paul-Olivier Dehaye, who highlighted practical examples of citizens requesting and using their own personal data to gain insights into the practices of large companies (e.g. Uber) in order to improve their negotiation position.
Another highlight of the first day was the podium discussion where Valerie Hase (LMU Munich), Angela Müller (AlgorithmWatch CH), and Paul-Olivier Dehaye (HestiaLabs) discussed with Thomas Friemel (UZH) the similarities and differences between NGOs, private companies, and academia regarding data donations.
An overview of all presentations can be found here: https://datadonation.uzh.ch/en/symposium-2023/
We thank all participants for making this such a pleasant and interesting symposium and are already looking forward to the next one!
